Welcome to Progeny of Evolution, a series of novels where vampires and lycans, The Others, are a rare mutation within humanity. No more than 600 of each type have been alive at one time. Until the 20th Century, they lived short, violent lives that became the source of legends and myths, but technological advances allowed them to feed while reducing their chances of discovery and to find each other.
For two thousand years, lycans and vampires were unaware of each others' existence. A chance meeting between lycan, Samantha "Sam" Johnson and vampire, Dr. Jim White, Professor of Mathematics, changes everything. Together they discover the key to continuation of The Others, giving promise of a life beyond living in the shadows hunting humans and fruitless mating. In the process, they proceed from two beautiful creatures having hot sex toward perfecting a deeper relationship, still with the hot sex.

Where other shifters become large ferocious animals like bears, wolves, or large cats, Drake transforms into an eight pound Yorkshire terrier. Though not much good in a scrap, the little fellow can go places his larger colleagues can't, and in either form he's irresistible to women.
